Wii Love Violence

Wii Fight For Our Right...To Parrrrrty!

Oddly enough, with issues of low Nintendo Wii availability, I thought there would be a lot more fighting in stores. After all, I almost saw people kill each other back when Tickle Me Elmo came out. Then, a few months later, when it's gathering dust in your closet, you wonder what the hell you were thinking.

Leave it to the Dutch for some of the first recorded incidents of Wii violence. At the MediaMarkt store in Zwolle, in the Netherlands, people started throwing down over the last remaining Wii. If I were them, I would have busted the controller out. If you've ever been accidentally nailed when someone's playing tennis, then you know what I'm talking about.

I got into a fight over the 3DO. That thing could play music, movies, and had a DEMOLITION MAN game. Greatest system ever: Yes.

In other violent Wii news, convicted murderer Ian Huntley was given a Nintendo Wii. In an effort to prevent Huntley from killing himself, Huntley was setup with a Wii and guards were told to treat him as an "extension of their family". Apparently, his old Gamecube wasn't good enough and he wanted a newer system.

Huntley enjoys a relatively cushy life in jail, where he is allowed to wear designer clothes and is brought 3 meals a day. Sources say almost everything is done for him and he is waited on hand and foot.

It's pretty messed up when murderers are enjoying a higher standard of living then people working a day to day job, trying to pay for gas and meet their bills.

Enjoy your Wii responsibly!

AP - "This song is dedicated to Debbie Harry," flinty-eyed Lisa Hsuan purrs into a microphone on the red-lit stage of Hyperion Tavern. It's a cozy dive where patrons drink Coke and beer from bottles and a fading chandelier dangles overhead.
