AVGN Vs Zero Punctuation

The Angry Video Game Nerd (often shortened to AVGN or The Nerd) is a character created and played by Internet filmmaker James Rolfe. It is also the name of his popular Internet video series.

Zero Punctuation is the name for a series a videos by English born writer Ben Croshaw (commonly known as Yahtzee).

Both of these video series do the same thing, reviewing video games. I am about to break these series down to find out which is superior.

Audience

Both series do review games but they review different types. The AVGN reviews games from twenty years ago and Zero Punctuation reviews the latest games. Since the AVGN reviews games most people around the world grew up with, people can relate to them and enjoy the videos more. A problem with this is that everyone is doing it, ie. The Irate Gamer.

Zero Punctuation reviews new games so it targets another, larger audience of gamers who only like the latest things.

Humour

The AVGN derives his humour from his complete frustration at the horrible games he reviews, so there's bound to be some level of profanity in his videos. This is a problem because this is the only thing the humour is coming from.

Zero Punctuation uses a variety of jokes so it doesn't feel like you're watching the same thing over and over again.

Does it actually review games?

The AVGN does talk about games but not in enough detail. He mainly only talks about the bits that frustrates only himself.

Zero Punctuation also talks about the bad things but it talks about it more as a whole rather than in the AVGN who only talks about little tid-bits of the game.

Both actually don't 'review' the games since they don't talk about the good parts of the game as well.

Conclusion

The AVGN targets an audience of retro gamers and Zero Punctuation targets gamers who like the latest games.

The AVGN reuses the same jokes over and over again and Zero Punctuation has some variety in its humour.

Both games don't actually 'review' games but Zero Punctuation give more detail than the AVGN.

In conclusion I would recommend Zero Punctuation over the AVGN.

Piano Lesson - For Piano Beginners

Playing piano can be a wonderful experience. If you want to start playing piano sheet music you need to know a few of the conventions used in western sheet music notation. Let's make a little journey through the music notation djungle!

First we might notice that the piano as we are used to play have been around for some time. Around 500 years or more. Playing keyboards is in other words a rather old art. This means that the conventions as to how to play keyboard instruments and how to notate the music have had some time to develop.

As you might know a piano has 88 keys. This means a full sized piano but you will find keyboards with a considerably less amount of keys. however, the order of the white and black keys are the same.

How can you learn to play piano?

Well, as you might know little children don't have too much problem with this question. The just hammer on!

At least one thing you can learn from children. To learn to play you have to play. That is an important beginning!

Do you need sheet music in order to start playing the piano? Well, the before mentioned children have already answered the question with a definite no!

Some accomplished pianists have never used sheet music at all and play entirely by ear or by reading chords in songs. This type of pianists usually learn songs by listening to recordings or just by playing from memory. It works fine and many very fine musicians and pianist have used this approach.

Other pianist have always played sheet music and would feel very uneasy confronted with a keyboard without their music sheets. Maybe they have learned pieces by heart and have a large repertoire of piano solos but they have never improvised or played by ear. Even these pianists can create great music.

I would suggest that you use the best parts of both these approaches as you learn to play piano. Take time to develop your ear and improvise but also to make a conscious effort to learn to play piano sheet music.

One way to learn to read sheet music with a concentrated effort is to read a piano solo and trying to understand all signs and symbols in the music.

Try to tap the rhythm and as you become more skilled you can try to sing or hear the music in your head. This is a very effective way to really get into learning sheet music.

Here are some symbols you will find as you read a piece of piano sheet music:

You will find vertical lines in the music that divides the notes in groups. These lines are called barlines and the distance between two of these barlines are called a measure.

Sometimes you will find two dots at the end of a section and also a double bar. The two dots are called a repeat sign indicating that you should play the section twice.

The elaborated G is called the G clef and indicates the position of the note G in the treble note staff. It is also called the treble clef.

The left hand notes are mainly situated in the bass clef or the F clef because the two dots indicates the note F.

It will be a great help for you to study the sheet music before you play a piece of music, rehearsing the names of the notes and preparing yourself for a pleasant encounter with the music behind the dots.

Peter Edvinsson invites you to download your free sheet music, and read his music blog at http://www.capotastomusic.com

Where is the Grate Guy Casino in Mario RPG?

Before you can get to the Grate Guy Casino you need the Bright Card to enter. You can get the Bright Card anytime after beating the Grate Guy and Knife guy in the boss fight. Go back to Booster's Tower after that fight and climb the tower until you see the Knife Guy juggling.

Talk to him and play his juggling guessing game. Guess which hand he has the yellow ball in 12 times in a row and you will be rewarded with the Bright Card. Now go to Bean Valley. There will be a screen with 5 pipes. Go down the pipe closest to the save point.

In that pipe there will be a secret entrance to the Grate Guy Casino. You can find that entrance by going to the corner with the Chomp and jumping 3 times. Then as long as you have the Bright Card you will have no problem getting inside. Inside you can play a number of games including slots and blackjack.

The odds of winning any regular coins or frog coins in the Grate Guy Casino are highly against you like any normal casino. The only worth wild item is the Star Egg which is a battle item that does 100 damage to every opponent. It can be used more than once which makes it more useful than any bombs you can get.

You can obtain the Star Egg in the Grate Guy Casino by winning 100 juggling guessing games against Knife Guy. You don't have to win 100 in a row just guess 100 times correctly without leaving the casino. If you leave the casino the guessing game count resets and you have to start over. If you made it this far congratulations for finding the Grate Guy Casino and obtaining the Star Egg.
